Emilia Clarke opens up about health struggles while filming ‘Game of Thrones’

In an essay written for The New Yorker, Emilia Clarke has revealed the serious health struggles she faced while filming Game of Thrones.

Shortly after production wrapped for Season 1 in 2011, Clarke remembers collapsing at the gym following a severe headache. The incident would mark the beginning of the first of two major surgeries for Clarke, each tied to a life-threatening brain aneurysm.

“At some level, I knew what was happening: my brain was damaged,” Clarke recalls.

“The diagnosis was quick and ominous: a subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), a life-threatening type of stroke, caused by bleeding into the space surrounding the brain. I’d had an aneurysm, an arterial rupture.” Read more…

‘Rogue One’ writer reveals the film could have ended with a wedding

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story took a turbulent journey from page to screen, but we never realized how different things could have been. Screenwriter Chris Weitz revealed that before he joined the project, the story had a happy ending.

“The version prior to [my involvement] didn’t have everyone die. As a matter of fact, it ended with a wedding,” Weitz told CultPopture. “I think it was on the presumption that Disney wouldn’t allow characters to die with such abandon.”

More than two years after the film’s release, this is almost impossible to imagineRogue One ending with a joyful wedding???

The ‘Game of Thrones’ Season 8 poster says it all

The Game of Thrones Season 8 poster keeps things simple; this may be a rich and intricate story with enough characters and layers to fill thousands of pages – but it’s also about a bunch of warring royals and some dragons.

The final season’s poster returns to basics with a classic iron throne shot – but follow those swords down and you’ll see the hungry eyes of a dragon.

For a simple poster, there’s a lot to think about. For one thing, the Iron Throne is made of Valyrian steel swords, which are among the few weapons that can destroy White Walkers – this season’s number one enemy. What once was a throne for a monarch now looks like an arsenal to fight the Army of the Dead. Has anyone thought of taking this thing apart and using it as weapons? (We have a feeling Cersei might not approve.) Read more…

The rumored disc-less Xbox One S could be out by May 7

Get your salt shakers out: It’s time for something that might not be true!

Microsoft’s rumored disc-less Xbox One S — or the Xbox One S All-Digital, as it will apparently be called — could be coming on May 7. That’s what Windows Central claims, citing product photos and supporting documents it received from an unnamed source.

The site’s coverage uses Photoshop mockups of the product photos in order to protect the source, so you’ll have to take their word for it. The digitally recreated console looks like you’d expect it to: an Xbox One S without the opening where a disc would go.

The disc-less Xbox One S would also reportedly pack in a bundle of download codes for three games — Sea of Thieves, Forza Horizon 3, and Minecraft — as well as a 1TB hard drive.  Read more…
