Gigi Hadid opens up about health condition after getting body shamed

Gigi Hadid has posted a response to people claiming the model is “too skinny,” stating she would no longer explain the way her body looks. 

Hadid posted a series of tweets explaining that changes to her body are a result of treatment for Hashimoto’s disease. 

According to the NHS, Hashimoto’s thyroiditis is a condition “caused by the immune system attacking the thyroid gland,” which can lead to “tiredness, weight gain and dry skin.” 

“You may not know that when I started @ 17 I was not yet diagnosed w/Hashimoto’s disease; those of u who called me “too big for the industry” were seeing inflammation & water retention due to that,” wrote Hadid on Twitter.  Read more…
