Hyperrealistic bust of Roman emperor Nero looks like a real neckbeard

Hello, m’Romans [tips hat]. 

Spanish artist Césares de Roma has created a hyperrealistic silicone sculpture of the famous Roman emperor Nero. Based on pre-existing busts and classical literary sources, the historical accuracy cannot sway the internet’s feelings that the recreation looks like someone who would force you to read his incredibly in-depth Star Wars fan theory. 

Besides showing off how Nero had a literal neckbeard, the video goes in-depth into the process behind creating the bust and a little bit of historical background as well.

In addition to Nero, de Roma has also depicted modern-day versions of Julius Caesar and Augustus, and plans on making more Roman emperors in the future. We hope they don’t look half as Twitter troll-ish as Nero. Read more…
