Nick Kroll and John Mulaney’s #MeToo joke killed at the Spirit Awards

Throughout awards season, we’ve seen a plethora of male hosts nervously tiptoe around jokes that address the biggest topic rocking Hollywood right now: Harvey Weinstein and sexual harassment.

Not Nick Kroll and John Mulaney, though. At the Film Independent Spirit Awards, the co-hosts took the “spirited” part to heart in their opening monologue. The pair held absolutely nothing back as they delivered a slew of jokes absolutely nailing the tense climate and the behavior of predatory men in entertainment brought to light by the #MeToo movement.

“Last year, everyone famous died. This year, everyone famous wishes they were dead,” Mulaney began, providing an apt TL;DR. Then, the two decided to “name some names,” taking aim at each of the biggest names who fell from grace over the past several months. Read more…
