The next ‘Star Trek’ movie will be directed by a woman, a series first

The fourth Star Trek movie in the so-called “Abramsverse” timeline will be directed by S.J. Clarkson.

You may remember Clarkson’s name from the early episodes of Marvel’s The Defenders. She helmed the first two episodes of the Netflix miniseries (and executive produced the first one).

Clarkson’s new gig notably makes her the first woman to ever direct a Star Trek movie. Disappointing that it took us 14 movies to actually get here, but Clarkson is a proven talent, and a far better choice than Quentin Tarantino (maybe one of the most WTF headlines of 2017). Read more…
