A Philadelphia grandfather was buried with his beloved cheesesteaks

Philadelphians are fueled by three things: brotherly love, the certainty that whatever year it is currently is going to be the Eagles’ year, and a deep passion for cheesesteaks.

One local resident loved Philly cheesesteaks so deeply that he asked his family to bury him with them.

Before Richard Lussi, 76, passed away on Oct. 10 from heart complications, he would frequently joke about being buried with something to eat in the afterlife. According to The Philadelphia Inquirer, Lussi told his son John and grandson Dominic that he’d like that something to be a cheesesteak from Pat’s — one of Philadelphia’s famous cheesesteak restaurants.
