Boeing 777X just got its folding wings approved by the FAA. The aircraft’s wings rotate upwards when the plane is on the ground so that it can fit into gates that are narrower than the length of its span. Read more…More about Mashable Video, Airplan…

NASA is building a quiet supersonic jet prototype
NASA is leading a project to build the next generation of supersonic aircraft, which will produce very quiet sonic booms. This will allow it to be utilized as a commercial jet over populated areas. Read more…More about Nasa, Mashable Video, Airplan…

NASA wants to prove that it can fly a plane faster than the speed of sound without blasting American neighborhoods below with sonic booms.
Previously, commercial supersonic travel had been limited to the Atlantic Ocean, where people wouldn’t be…
AeroMobil’s new electric flying car concept is a sporty 4-seater
Flying cars are more down to earth than ever – at least, in that their physical design is moving closer to something resembling a car. The AeroMobil 5th generation all-electric VTOL (vertical take-off and landing) concept is no exception, with styling that makes it look sort of like a near-future SUV or crossover, with a […]

Airbus recently had the first ever successful flight of its Vahana autonomous air vehicle, and now it’s released video of that pivotal moment in the aircraft’s development. The flight took place at the end of January in Pendleton, Oregon, when the flying, passenger-capable drone took off and hovered off the ground about 16 feet in the air, all while piloting itself. The next step… Read More

Most of the pricey machines NASA outlined in a 2019 budget proposal this week — a 32-story mega-rocket, moon landers, and Mars rover — will be launched to Earth’s orbit or beyond.
But aside from those big-ticket items, the space agency’s budget also requests funding for a curious airplane that currently exists only in sketches and the minds of NASA engineers: The X-Plane.
This aircraft is designed to travel faster than the speed of sound, and to do so relatively quietly, without sending sonic boom sound waves into unsuspecting neighborhoods thousands of feet below. If it works, NASA’s X-Plane could revolutionize flight, cutting flight times in half and changing the way we fly. Read more…

DJI is supposed to announce a new drone tomorrow but this appears to be it. Called the Mavic Air, the small drone looks to be a combo of foldable Mavic Pro and the affordable Spark. I’m interested. According to DroneDJ, the small drone will have four foldable legs, a 4k camera, 3-way gimbal and a obstacle-avoidance system. But what about the price and range? DJI will likely reveal… Read More

Remember Lady Gaga’s Super Bowl halftime show with the drones that made the light show? A scaled-down version of that system now works indoors, Intel says, making it perfect for conferences, Vegas shows and bar mitzvahs. These drones opened Intel’s CES keynote. A dozen or so took the stage and danced above a projected piano, playing a tune reminiscent of Tom Hanks’ performance… Read More

Every once in a while you may look up at the sky and see a plane, a blimp, clouds — nothing out of the ordinary.
But if you were in the Omak, Washington area around Nov. 16, you might’ve seen a sky drawing of a good old penis.
The Navy have come forward and taken responsibility for this obscene work of sky art that could be seen over Okanogan county.
“The Navy holds its aircrew to the highest standards and we find this absolutely unacceptable, of zero training value and we are holding the crew accountable,” Navy officials told KREM 2 News. Read more…
