YouTuber inexplicably puts a pile of AirPods in slime

Some might not think everything belongs in slime, but YouTuber Talisa Tossell most certainly does not share that sentiment.

Tossell typically takes slime to the extreme by “adding too much” unconventional stuff to the gooey mixture — from crayons and googly eyes to glitter, foil, and more.

But in her latest ambitious slime-making video, Tossell tossed a bunch of AirPods in to be mixed. And oh boy was it a sight.

The idea came from a request from several of Tossell’s Instagram followers who clearly have mixed feelings about tech. The AirPods used in the video were cheap knock offs, not Apple branded, so it didn’t cost nearly as much. But it was still equally traumatizing to watch, and according to Tossell, not “particularly fun to play with.” Read more…

AirPods 2 could have hands-free ‘Hey Siri’ feature

The AirPods 2 rumors just keep on coming.

Apple rolled out the first iOS 12.2 beta for developers on Thursday. According to 9to5Mac, which made the discovery, there’s a new, hidden setup menu when configuring AirPods with an iPhone. This new screen includes a prompt to set up “Hey Siri” with AirPods.

“Talk to Siri with your AirPods or iPhone by saying ‘Hey Siri’,” states the new iOS setup screen. Once the Siri setup is complete, 9to5Mac says a user’s AirPods will respond to only the user’s voice commands. The process is similar to the “Hey Siri” setup with other Apple devices, like iPhones and iPads. The report also states that AirPods 2 will process the voice commands and send it to the paired iPhone or iPad. That means users could access Siri without having to touch their AirPods or remove their iPhone from their bag or pocket. Read more…

AirPods 2 launching in first half of 2019 with rumored health monitoring features: report

Apple’s next generation of AirPods may also monitor your health.

According to a report by Digitimes, Apple is preparing to release its AirPods 2 in the first-half of 2019. The company’s newest wireless earbud model will also feature unspecified “health monitoring functions,” according to the report.

While other outlets have pointed out Digitimes’ mixed record when it comes to Apple product speculation, the rumors in this report are not completely unfounded.

Bloomberg previously reported that new “high-end” AirPods were on the way back in June 2018. That report claimed that the new AirPods would go on sale in early 2019 and feature noise cancellation, water resistance, and possibly increased range features. Bloomberg also mentioned that Apple was looking into adding biometric sensors to the next generation AirPods. This would bring health-related features, such as a heart-rate monitor, to the device. Apple’s smartphone business may not be going as well as the company would like it to, but Apple has a plan on how to mitigate this.

According to CEO Tim Cook, who appeared on CNBC’s Mad Money on Monday, the company will announce new services this year. 

Cook refused to go into details. “There will be more things coming. I don’t wanna tell you what they are. (…) I’m not gonna forecast precisely, the ramps and so forth. But they’re things that we feel really great about, that we’ve been working on for multiple years,” he said near the end of the interview. Read more…
