Someone is already trying to stop sales of Elon Musk’s flamethrower

Elon Musk’s plan to sell Boring Company branded flamethrowers is certainly a fantastic bit of marketing, and it’s no wonder pre-sales are on fire.

While Musk has made assurances that the flamethrower will meet national guidelines by emitting a flame less than 10 feet, one Californian assemblyman wants to put an end to the idea for good.

Democrat Miguel Santiago announced Monday he will introduce legislation aimed at blocking the sale of the $500 flamethrower, in the state of California at least.

“I honestly thought it was a joke when the article was read to me — while I was sitting in Los Angeles traffic,” Santiago said in a statement on Twitter.  Read more…

Elon Musk’s flamethrower is apparently selling like crazy

Apparently, there’s a large market for flamethrowers with tunnel boring company branding out there. We know because Elon Musk’s Boring Company has already sold 7,000 of them, less than a day after the flamethrower’s been put up for sale

This is according to the man himself, who tweeted a couple of sale figures on Sunday and Monday. Only 20,000 flamethrowers were up for sale, and currently there’s only 13,000 left.

And before you ask, we don’t know. We don’t know if Elon Musk’s flamethrower is real — it definitely looks real in Musk’s recent video, but we don’t know whether it’s legal to buy such a thing.  Read more…

Elon Musk has a cool new weapon for sale and TBH we should all be deeply, deeply concerned.

On Saturday the tech genius (who may or may not be evil) posted photographs and video of The Boring Company’s brand new flamethrower, which is apparently now for sale to the general public, and can already be pre-ordered for $500.00.
