Here’s the first trailer for the VR sequel to Groundhog Day

Sony Pictures is taking audiences back to Punxsutawney… this time in virtual reality. Whether it’s an abomination and a perversion of one of the best movies in the Bill Murray oeuvre or a great way to immerse a viewer in one of the most perfectly realized worlds brought to the silver screen (I unrepentantly love […]

‘Groundhog Day’ VR game let’s you revisit Bill Murray’s 1993 adventure as his son

TwitterFacebook

Groundhog Day has been a movie and a musical, so why not make it a virtual reality game next?

Sony Pictures has teamed up with Tequila Works — the studio behind 2017’s wonderful indie efforts Rime and The Sexy Brutale — for Groundhog Day: Like Father Like Son. It’s a……… sequel? To Groundhog Day? Set 26 years later, where you’re playing as Phil Connors’ son as he’s caught in the same kind of time loop as his dad?

Sure, why not?

This game looks completely cuckoo bananas, though it’s not yet clear if that’s a good thing or a bad thing. There’s reason to be hopeful with Tequila Works at the helm though! And Groundhog Day, the 1993 film, is such a wonderful, well-told story. Any chance to spend a little more time in that world is a welcome thing. Read more…

Groundhog Day prediction is for an early spring but Twitter’s not buying it this year

TwitterFacebook

Punxsutawney Phil, the Pennsylvania groundhog we let decide our seasons for us, is officially predicting an early spring.

It’s time to replace Groundhog Day with Lobster Day

TwitterFacebook

Everyone is sick of Groundhog Day (no offense, Phil) and it’s time to liven things up a bit. Let’s take a leaf out of Nova Scotia’s book and hire a lobster instead.

Lucy the lobster — a good lobster — burst forth from the ocean today to tell Nova Scotians how much more winter they should expect. Lucy did not see her shadow, which means there will not be six more weeks of winter.

Here is a tweet about it. Lucy typed it with her big, meaty claws. (She weighs 6.5 pounds.)

Yup that’s me! I looked around and for the life of me couldn’t see a shadow anywhere! Folks seemed really excited about that! #NOSHADOW #EarlySpring #GroundhogDay2018 #thatsawrap pic.twitter.com/zCCYDirAnm
