Man who’s been growing his fingernails since 1952 has finally cut them

TwitterFacebook

Warning: this video shows graphic footage of a man getting his fingernails cut after growing them for 66 years.

Shridhar Chillal — from Pune, India — has been growing his fingernails since 1952. But, over six decades later, he’s decided to cut them. Prior to getting his nails cut, 82-year-old Chillal’s fingernails measured a total of 909.6 cm (29 ft 10.1 in) — the world record for the longest ever fingernails on a single hand. The length of his fingernails actually equates to the same length as a London bus.

Per the Guinness World Records, Chillal started growing his nails at age 14 after a teacher told him off for breaking his long nail.  Read more…

Someone live tweeted the world record for tallest stack of waffles — and it was a dramatic affair

TwitterFacebook

During Memorial Day Weekend, many people gathered in backyards to kick off cookout season across the country — but in Denver, some visited an unassuming backyard to witness an attempt to shatter the world record for tallest stack of waffles, which was previously at 51 cm.

Journalist Elizabeth Hernandez was on the scene to cover the event for The Denver Post and thankfully, she live tweeted the action for all of us as it was going down on Saturday.

“You know when you get a press release to cover a Guinness world record attempt for tallest stack of waffles & expect it to be some big commercial thing & then it’s just a guy’s house?,” Hernandez tweeted. “This is SO MUCH BETTER.” Read more…

Nonaka credits his longevity to “soaking in hot springs and eating sweets,” according to Guinness World Records. His daughter says that Nonaka strives to live a stress-free life, and doesn’t hesitate in telling someone off.

Nonaka’s daughter told Guinness World Records that “if he doesn’t want something, he’ll make sure everyone knows about it.” Read more…

Giant 231-pound sticker ball just broke a Guinness World Record

TwitterFacebook

A Guinness World Record holder named Saul the Sticker Ball lives in Longmont, Colorado. It doesn’t really live, though. It’s a 231-pound giant ball made from over 200,000 stickers and labels.

John Fischer is the CEO of a company called StickerGiant and, with the help of his employees, they created Saul.

The Guinness World Records uploaded a video Tuesday of Fischer and Saul, celebrating the award.

“Stickers are fun because they allow people to take any normal thing and make it theirs,” said Fischer.

He explained in the video that the process of creating Saul took over a hundred hours but it brought the entire company together. StickerGiant created the ball in an attempt to break a world record in honor of the first National Sticker day in the United States. The ball also has some political ambitions apparently.  Read more…
