TwitterFacebook

Looking for the right curling iron can be overwhelming — there are literally hundreds you could choose from. You have to consider your hair type, the kind of curl you want, ease of use, price, material, and more just to find a product to style your hair.

First let’s talk size — because size actually does matter when it comes to styling your hair. Curling irons range to create tiny spirals or big, loose curlsLiana Le, a celebrity stylist at Marie Robinson Salon in New York, New York, told us via email that she prefers one-inch tools to achieve a beachy, undone look, and a 1.25-inch size for a softer, pulled out wave look. For tighter curls you should opt for a three-quarter-inch iron or smaller. If you’re unsure of what size you want, a one-inch curling iron is a safe bet for most hair types and lengths. Read more…

PSA for hair obsessives: The Dyson Supersonic hair dryer is $359 at Walmart, $399 everywhere else

TwitterFacebook

Stop what you’re doing, because it’s officially a “Deal That Never Happens” Day: The Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer is $359 at Walmart

This is the first time we’ve ever seen it on sale and this is the only place it’s on sale — peep it at  $399 at Amazon, Best Buy, and Dyson’s official site. That’s a full $40 more than the deal at Walmart.

You may be thinking, “$40 off of $400 isn’t that great,” and you’re kind of right — but when there’s a discount on an item that’s this in demand, you don’t pass it up. It’s kind of like finding a deal on AirPods.

Lena Waithe buzzed off her hair, and it’s for the best reason

TwitterFacebook

Hair is personal, political, and a pain in the ass.

Lena Waithe, Mattress of None writer and queer icon understands this well. The actress recently revealed to Variety the reason why she buzzed her hair, despite what it supposedly says about her femininity.

“I felt like I was holding onto a piece of femininity that would make the world feel comfortable with who I am,” Waithe told Variety. “I thought for a long time, ‘Oh, if I cut my hair, I’ll be a stud — in the gay world, there’s a lot of categories — I’ll be a stud or I’ll be a butch,’ and I’ve always thought, ‘Well, no, I’m not that, I’m still soft,’ and I said, ’Oh, I gotta put that down, ’cause that’s something that’s outside of me.’” Read more…

Jared Kushner’s comb over: An investigation

TwitterFacebook

There are a lot of great things about Jared Kushner, like his soothing voice, his wealth of foreign policy experience, and his ability to dress appropriately. But our personal favorite is his weird comb over.

People first started to notice Kush’s Trumpian hairstyle last spring, when the Daily Mail captured a few incredible pics of Kushner and his children delivering baked goods to the Secret Service. Sadly, we’ve not seen such a striking comb over on Jared since this day — perhaps he read some of the blogs about it? — but a more muted version of the look is definitely still happening.
