Indian home healthcare platform Portea Medical raises $26M Series C

 Portea Medical, one of India’s biggest platforms for home healthcare visits, has raised $26 million in Series C funding to expand its service range. The round was led by Sabre Partners and MEMG CDC, with participation from returning investors Accel (which led Portea’s Series B two years ago), the World Bank Group’s International Finance Corporation and Qualcomm Ventures. Smog is so bad in New Delhi, air quality is beyond the ‘hazardous’ level

Pollution in India’s capital is at obscenely dangerous levels.

Last year, smog in New Delhi covered the region similarly because of winter weather patterns, and it’s back with a vengeance. It doesn’t help that India’s energy habits, from burning trash to using coal-fired power plants, produce a lot of pollution.

The smoggy conditions are visible from space, covering the northern part of the country in a milky haze. But that’s not smoke or clouds. It’s pollution. 

The U.S. Embassy in India has New Delhi’s air quality level at “hazardous” — the particulate level is so high it’s actually off the charts, beyond the index max of 500. Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Kolkata aren’t as dangerously high, but all are at unhealthy, elevated levels. Read more…

OK guys, time to freak out. 

Whatsapp is down — again — and people are taking to Twitter and Facebook to express frustration, anger, disappointment, despair. 

The messaging app, owned by Facebook, is used by some 1.2 billion people around the world. 

According to Down Detector, the outage started around 7am BST on November 3 and is still ongoing in large parts of Europe and South East Asia.
