Luke Cage‘s setting in Harlem, a neighborhood famous for its musical history, gives the show a perfect opportunity to feature some of the African American’s community’s best musicians and artists.

Season 1 set a precedent with guests like Method Man and Jidenna, but Season 2 upped the ante by inviting more legends to perform at Harlem’s Paradise and otherwise. This is everyone who showed up in the second season.

Episode 1 — Joi, Donald Harrison, D-Nice

‘Luke Cage’ Season 2 totally nails how New York City would treat a superhero

One of the coolest things about Netflix’s Marvel series is that it takes its New York City setting very seriously. The characters live at believable addresses, walk down identifiable streets, and even the little incongruities that would make an IRL New Yorker squint — Matt Murdock being able to afford a massive studio apartment while building a law practice from the ground up, for example — have in-universe explanations (only a blind person would put up with a glowing Midtown billboard shining in their window every night).

But New York City is more than a collection of neighborhoods. It’s the people who live there, and Luke Cage Season 2 is the first Marvel series that totally nails the way real New Yorkers would react to having a known superhero in their midst. Read more…

When the news dropped that Finn Jones would reprise his role as Danny Rand, A.K.A Iron Fist in Luke Cage Season 2, the internet was less than enthused.

Jones’s solo show was the worst-reviewed of all of Marvel’s Netflix offerings after its premiere in 2017, and the character’s co-starring appearance in The Defenders did little to endear him to audiences that preferred fan favorites like Jessica Jones and Daredevil. Why, asked the Marvel-loving masses, why does Danny Rand need to show up in Luke Cage? The answer, surprisingly enough, is to make one final argument that Danny Rand is a likable character.
