Splendid news, Luther fans — Season 5 is officially on its way.

On Monday night, Idris Elba shared a brief teaser for the show’s new season on his Twitter.

Well, that’s certainly a nice surprise.

Still, so we don’t exactly have much to go on so far.

Aside from a bloodied Elba walking up to stare at the camera and the words “This will hurt”, details are currently pretty thin. We don’t even have a date yet: just that equally exciting/frustrating phrase, “coming soon”.

Better than nothing though, eh?

You may think there are loads of different British crime shows out there, but you’re wrong about that.

There are actually only three different shows and they come in a variety of different disguises.

Emma Wortley perfectly summed up this phenomenon with a tweet that went viral on Sunday.

The three (3) types of British crime shows:
– title is a surname, makes you sad
– title is a place name, makes you sad
– “gosh isn’t murder positively beastly, oh well mustn’t let it ruin the village’s Paintings of Fences & Sheep competition, it’s the 50th anniversary after all”
