It’s possible… if you’re Pete Souza’s pet tortoise Charlotte. Thanks to the former White House photographer under President Barack Obama, Charlotte — better known as @charlottethetortoise to her 20,000-plus Instagram followers — has not only become the internet’s latest viral animal sensation, but also a rallying soldier in the resistance against Donald Trump.

The Washingtonian has published a short chronicling of Charlotte’s rise to fame and unexpected modeling career in Souza’s photography, which often throws shade at Trump and his administration in the cleverest of ways by contrasting the embarrassingly chaotic White House with the dignified and more orderly administration under former President Obama. Pete Souza reveals the cover for his book ‘Shade,’ and, well, you just have to see it

Break out your sunglasses, Pete Souza fans. The latest book cover has arrived and it’s a lot. 

On Wednesday, the former White House photographer, who is known for using his extensive Obama photo archive to clap back at Donald Trump’s every awful move, revealed the cover for his upcoming book, Shade: A Tale of Two Presidents.

As an ode to ~shade~ the cover shows our former president wearing some shades of his own. But not a pair of boring old sunglasses, or the beloved Obama-era Ray Bans — no, he’s wearing patriotic shutter shades. You know… the glasses Kanye West made famous during the good old Graduation days, when he wore them in the music video for “Stronger.” Yeah.  Read more…

Pete Souza needs to chill with his Trump trolling

There’s no denying Pete Souza once ruled Instagram, but over the course of Trump’s time in office things have changed.

When President Trump first began to baffle America by firing staffers left and right, spewing his confusing rhetoric, and committing to upsetting policies, Souza — who served as President Obama’s White House photographer — fell into a very smooth Instagram rhythm. He would occasionally share relevant Obama throwback photos perfectly timed to Trump’s actions in a way that threw just the right amount of shade.

It was a simple yet effective method of sharing his views, and it worked marvelously. His posts were a light in the darkest of times. People (including myself) loved ’em! But somewhere along the line Souza started taking things a bit too far. Read more…
