Taylor Swift donated hundreds of concert tickets to a police department in mourning

TwitterFacebook

Taylor Swift is trying to do her part to ease the grief of a Massachusetts town mourning a recently fallen police officer.

The Patriot Ledger reported that the pop star donated hundreds of complimentary tickets to Weymouth, Mass. for her Foxborough concert on Thursday, which is part of her Reputation Tour.

Swift gave the tickets in response to the death of Weymouth’s Sgt. Michael Chesna, who was killed earlier this month while responding to a car crash. The suspect is also believed to be responsible for killing bystander Vera Adams.

Every single alcohol reference in Taylor Swift’s albums in 1 gorgeous graph

TwitterFacebook

Anyone who’s ever listened to Taylor Swift’s “Reputation” will know that our gal has recently discovered partying.

Data-loving Redditer waitingforgoodoh decided to plot all the alcohol references in each and every one of Taylor Swift’s albums. And, the results are quite something.

It seems Swift made her first references to alcohol (with the words “bar” and “drunk”) in “Speak Now,” her third album. “Red,” meanwhile contained zero references to booze. “1989” contained two  (“wine” and “drunk”).

But, “Reputation” is where things really get interesting. Per the Reddit graph—which was made using plotting system ggplot2—Swift makes a whopping 13 references to alcohol. Read more…

Taylor Swift’s ‘Delicate’ music video has a secret message

TwitterFacebook

“Look What You Made Me Do” may have kicked off Taylor Swift’s reputation era in headlines, mood setting and score settling, but it was Sunday night’s release of the music video for Taylor Swift’s “Delicate” that will ultimately be looked at as the definitive visual representation of this point in Swift’s career.

It’s the celluloid moment that best matches the takeaway lyrics of reputation, centering on a woman who has been through the celebrity ringer (with the battle scars and Twitter hashtags to prove it), shed a few layers, built a few protective walls and became a more private, yet happier, person.  Read more…

Taylor Swift reinvents herself (again) for her first magazine Vogue cover of the Reputation era

TwitterFacebook

It’s been a while since Taylor Swift last appeared on the cover of a magazine. But, her first cover shoot of the Reputation era is here. Somewhat unsurprisingly, the British Vogue cover is all about reinvention.

In addition to a high fashion—and kinda emo—photo shoot, Swift has also written a poem for Vogue on the topic of “reinvention and moving on.” Quelle surprise! Sadly, we have to wait until Friday, when the magazine hits stands, to get our hands on Swift’s poetry.

“It’s been a while since I’ve done a magazine cover. I’m really happy my first one back was with such wonderful people,” wrote Swift in an Instagram post about her cover shoot for the January issue of VogueRead more…

Taylor Swift will never be the feminist of our dreams, but we can still listen

TwitterFacebook

Every time a Taylor Swift album is released, critics ask the same exhausting question — will this be the album where Taylor Swift gets political?

The answer is always the same: GirlNo.

Swift’s politics, best described as ¯\_(ツ)_/¯, have been the cause of an unending febrile pop culture battle ever since the artist first emerged a decade ago, reaching its apotheosis in 2017. If you’re interested in getting into a fight with a friend, might I suggest bringing up the topic of Swift’s feminism. Watch the unfollows commence.

Her latest album, reputation, is no exception. And it’s well past the time me and my fellow feminist friends face the facts. Swift will never, ever be the nasty woman of our left-to-neoliberal political dreams, and no amount of subtweeting will ever change that. Read more…

Ed Sheeran ‘raps’ on Taylor Swift’s ‘reputation’ and Twitter is having none of it

TwitterFacebook

Taylor Swift’s reputation has finally landed and Twitter doesn’t even know where to start.

How about Ed Sheeran havin’ a wee rap?

Swift joined old mate and “rapper” Sheeran and actual professional rapper Future for the second track of the highly anticipated album, dubbed “End Game.”

Twitter was having none of it.

Ed Sheeran is somehow worse at rapping than Taylor Swift is. This EndGame song has a great chorus and Future rap, though. Basically everything except the intro and the Sheeran rap are A+
