Margot Robbie is promoting her film I, Tonya, and she brought figure skater Tonya Harding — who she plays in the film — as her date to the Golden Globes.

Margot Robbie offers a new take on Tonya Harding in the new film I, Tonya, but the Australian actress had never heard of the real-life person she’s now playing.

“I never heard of the incident. I never heard any of their names,” Robbie told The Huffington Post. “[It was] just written like it was meant to be a mockumentary style. Then I found out it was a true story — completely true ― and I was shocked and enthralled by that.”

Robbie has previously admitted that she thought I, Tonya was a made-up story, but as the film draws audience and awards buzz it becomes more baffling to imagine not having even heard Harding’s name at some point. Read more…
