Here’s 1 emoji you definitely shouldn’t tweet at J.K. Rowling

TwitterFacebook

J.K. Rowling often goes after people on Twitter, but usually she reserves her magical takedowns for trolls or politicians.

Not today, though. This morning, the subject of her wrath was something entirely different: an emoji.

It started with this viral tweet about how the meaning of “lol” has changed over time.

does anyone remember when lol meant “laughing out loud” instead of “this is to indicate that this brief text isnt hostile”

Rowling then responded with this:

Remember when the 😂 emoji meant ‘lol’ not ‘I seek to convey my contempt by suggesting that your words and beliefs are laughable when actually my keyboard is cracked from all the rage typing and I can’t remember when I last smiled.’ https://t.co/mwKGcqgXtZ
