The question everyone’s asking about kids detained at the border: ‘Where are the girls?’

Since early May, more than 2,000 migrant children have been separated from their families at the border of the United States. In that time, questions ranging from “how is this allowed?” to “how can I help?” have plagued the minds of concerned people around the world.

But as leaked photographs show detention centers filled with young boys, government officials dodge direct questions about the specific location of children. Meanwhile, confusing video footage shows kids being escorted through the streets.
