Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but Florida Man is back. 

Lane Pittman, who has built a brand off doing dumb shit like walk into dangerous hurricanes instead of seeking shelter, drove to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina to fight Hurricane Florence. 

As everyone else in the storm’s path evacuated, Pittman — who started referring to himself as Florida Man — marched into the street barefoot. With up to 50 mile per hour winds whipping his hair and American flag, Pittman wore nothing but a pair of bright blue shorts.

Embracing the spirit of the United States itself, Pittman was extraordinarily stupid for the sake of looking good with a flag.  Read more…

Deadly, 40,000-foot fire tornado revealed in new videos

Harrowing new footage released by California’s firefighting agency Cal Fire reveals the massive fire tornado that led to the death of a firefighter on July 26.

The fire tornado was part of the Carr Fire that’s engulfed 223,610 acres of land in Northern California so far. A report from Cal Fire breaks down the details surrounding the fiery phenomenon.

Per the report, the tornado “was a large rotating fire plume that was roughly 1,000 feet in diameter at its base” and managed to reach a height of 40,000 feet.

Ocean temperatures off the Southern California coast have been profoundly warm in August, with a number of all-time high temperatures recorded in San Diego’s almost bath-like waters.

These extreme marine temperatures — created by weather patterns and boosted by climate change — have a sphere of influence beyond the oceans, as this heat has contributed to unusual heat and mugginess on the heavily-populated coast. 

This is not the norm for seaside San Diego, which is famous for its sunny, though moderate, climate.

“We’re in a record-setting streak right now,” Mark Moede, a National Weather Service meteorologist in San Diego, said in an interview. “It’s unprecedented — typically it’s pretty temperate.” Read more…

Bride doesn’t let a flood get in the way of her wedding

Love conquers all — and that includes storms.

Jobel Delos Angeles didn’t let heavy rain and flooding interfere with her wedding to her partner of seven years and father of her two children on Saturday. Instead, Jobel and her husband Jeff embraced it. 

The Philippines is currently in the midst of Monsoon season, bringing heavy rains and flooding to Manila and its many neighboring areas including Bulacan, where Delos Angeles lives, according to Channel News Asia. 

The rains flooded the church where the two wet slated to have their wedding, but despite the inclement weather, Delos Angeles was delighted to go through with her nuptials.  Read more…
