A virtual reality David Bowie exhibit is coming to your smartphone

The “David Bowie is” exhibit may have come to an end, but it sounds as though it’s going to live on … through a VR smartphone experience.

The exhibit, which toured cities across the world over the last six years, allowed access to the legendary singer’s personal archives as a means of exploring his creative journey.

On Monday, the official David Bowie site announced that the a virtual reality version of the exhibit will be available later this year.

The David Bowie is tour has ended, but the show must go on! This fall, Sony Music Entertainment (Japan) Inc., in collaboration with the DB Archive, Planeta, and V&A, will release a digital recreation of the exhibition on smartphones as a virtual experience https://t.co/6DOCQcslBJ pic.twitter.com/F9wiJoZrCo

Your weird celebrity crush Michael Shannon skipped the Golden Globe Awards Sunday to perform with Sons of the Silent Age for a David Bowie tribute concert. At least one Very Important photo from this concert has surfaced and shows Shannon going all-out as a shirtless Iggy Pop.

Iggy Pop and David Bowie performed together in Berlin in the late ’70s, the era Sons of the Silent Age focused on for this concert. The two reportedly became close friends after Bowie visited a hospitalized Iggy – they even got arrested together in 1976, the mark of true friendship. Bowie was a writer and producer on The Idiot and Lust for Life, whose title track Shannon performed Sunday night. Read more…

‘Justice League’ pays tribute to David Bowie and Prince in an unexpected way

Turns out Superman isn’t the only dear departed alien in the DC cinematic universe.

Justice League confirms what we long suspected – that David Bowie and Prince were aliens, too.

Much of Justice League revolves around the world’s collective grief over the death of Superman. It’s evident in the influx of parademons who feed on fear (… just go with it), in the conversations the characters are having, in the news reports and headlines scattered throughout the movie.

In one quick shot, we see a newspaper with a provocative headline splashed across the front page: “Did they return to their planets?” Superman’s photo is right underneath – and so are photos of David Bowie and Prince.  Read more…
