Henry Cavill loved ‘Aquaman’ so much he went for a swim with a fork

TwitterFacebook

While Henry Cavill’s first look as Geralt in the TV adaptation of The Witcher video game did not go down well, his Aquaman impression can stay.

The Justice League star posted a congratulatory Instagram to his superhero co-star Jason Momoa by channeling his box-office smash Aquaman

Cavill, who’s usually seen donning a cape as Superman in the DC Extended Universe films, instead took to a body of water — in what weirdly looks like the dead of night — capeless, Lycra-less, and wielding a fork as a trident.

“Channeling the man of the hour, the man of big hugs, big laughs and big pints of Guinness, my man Jason Momoa. How’d I do?” he captioned the post. Read more…

Henry Cavill is still answering for the mustache CGI in ‘Justice League’

TwitterFacebook

It may have seemed excessive for Mission: Impossible Fallout to ban Henry Cavill from shaving his now-infamous mustache for Justice League reshoots, but the actor assures us in a new interview that shaving was not an option.

“When we decided to go for the mustache, I certainly wasn’t expecting all the events to unfold as they were going to unfold,” Cavill told Empire.

He’s referring to the Justice League reshoots that necessitated CGI removal of said mustache and also gave the internet a lot of much-needed laughs. Read more…

‘Justice League’ is officially, well and truly DC’s lowest grossing movie

TwitterFacebook

It’s over, guysJustice League has finally ended its domestic box office run and it’s now officially the lowest grossing film in the DC Extended Universe.

Director Zack Snyder’s multi-hero blockbuster starring Wonder Woman, Superman, Batman, Aquaman, Cyborg, and Flash, the antithesis to Marvel’s Avengers, made $229 million at the U.S. box office since opening in November 2017.

The film couldn’t top Man of Steel, next rung up, which made $291 million at the U.S. box office. DC’s top domestic grossing film to date is the unbeatable Wonder Woman, which hit $412 million — and notably, it came out only months before Justice League and probably should have harnessed more of a guaranteed flow-over audience than it did. ‘Justice League’ proves the world is big enough for two versions of The Flash

TwitterFacebook

When Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment made the somewhat controversial choice to keep their superhero movies and TV shows separate — ruling out any crossovers between their big and small screen projects — they were clearly differentiating themselves from Marvel’s interconnected “Cinematic Universe.”

(Never mind that, while ostensibly all taking place in the same continuity, the heroes from Marvel’s TV shows have yet to play any meaningful role, or even merit a namedrop, in Marvel’s movies — that’s a gripe for another day.)

Instead, DC views its properties as a “multiverse,” in which two versions of Superman can coexist peacefully because each story takes place in an alternate dimension: Tyler Hoechlin embodies the Man of Steel on The CW’s Supergirl, while Henry Cavill dons those iconic tights on a parallel earth — a narrative shortcut that comic book publishers have used for years to excuse the conflicting continuities and characterizations of their heroes across their various titles.  Read more…

Joe Manganiello’s Deathstroke is here to singlehandedly revive the DCEU

TwitterFacebook

Is Deathstroke the DCEU’s saving grace? Well, no, because Wonder Woman – but kind of yes since Justice League was such a bust and he’s played by Magic Mike alum Joe Manganiello. Manganiello took to Twitter Saturday to wordlessly reveal the first photo of himself in character as Slade Wilson (not to be confused with Wade Wilson, another sword-wielding superhuman named after death), and we have a sneaky feeling we’re going to watch that movie.

Henry Cavill’s mustache was digitally removed in ‘Justice League’ and it’s laughably bad

While there has been plenty of criticism surrounding the new comic book flick Justice League, we need to talk about Superman’s upper lip.
Henry Cavill plays the role of Clark Kent/Superman in the film, a role which apparently called for a clean cut f…

Jason Momoa has no time for the ‘Justice League’ haters

TwitterFacebook

Whether you loved or hated Justice League, it’s clear that no one involved in the project was more pumped to be there than Jason Momoa, who obviously had a whale of a time (yes, that was a sea pun) playing Jason Momoa Arthur Curry, aka Aquaman, the team’s resident surfer bro and reluctant King of Atlantis.

Momoa clearly approached the role with all the joie de vivre he brings to his day-to-day existence — which, judging by his social media, is often spent throwing axes, drinking Guinness and hanging out with his beautiful friends — so he’s pretty “bummed” that the internet (and box office receipts) started raining on his parade by pointing out that the movie is ..not great.
