After over a million pre-orders, Amazon’s Echo Auto has begun to ship

At Amazon’s event in September, the company announced the Echo Auto, an aftermarket product designed to bring Alexa to cars. But the device has remained in pre-order status, even as other products also unveiled at the same event — like the Fire TV Recast, AmazonBasics microwave and various Echo devices for the home — went […]

Google sat on a Chromecast bug for years, now hackers could wreak havoc

Google was warned of a bug in its Chromecast media streaming stick years ago, but did not fix it. Now, hackers are exploiting the bug — and security researchers say things could get even worse. A hacker, known as Hacker Giraffe, has become the latest person to figure out how to trick Google’s media streamer […]

Amazon is crowdsourcing Alexa’s answers to tough questions

If you’ve got an Echo device at home, you’ve almost certainly played a few rounds of “stump Alexa,” asking Amazon’s assistant increasingly arcane questions in an attempt to elicit some baffled response. Likely you found it was all that difficult to confuse the AI. After all, Amazon doesn’t have the advantage of Google’s deep Knowledge […]

Fire TV Cube gains a one-way intercom feature called ‘Alexa Announcements’

Fire TV Cube owners can now use their media streaming device to broadcast announcements around the home, similar to a one-way intercom. Amazon says it’s launching a feature called “Alexa Announcements,” which allows customers to speak to Alexa on the Fire TV Cube, then have their message announced in their own voice to all other […]

Apple Music is coming to the Amazon Echo

Starting mid-December, Amazon Echo devices will be able to stream songs from Apple Music. A bit of a surprise, perhaps, given that Apple’s been a competitor in the space since launching the HomePod back in 2017. Amazon’s had its own music service for some time as well, but the company appears to have given up […]

The Alexa-enabled Big Mouth Billy Bass is real and now for sale

In September, Amazon launched its Alexa Gadgets Toolkit into beta, allowing hardware makers to build accessories that pair with Amazon Echo over Bluetooth. Today, one of the most memorable (and quite ridiculous) examples of that technology is going live. Yes, I’m talking about the Alexa-enabled Big Mouth Billy Bass, of course. You know, the talking fish […]

The fashion-forward Amazon Echo Look with Alexa is just $50 for Cyber Monday

TwitterFacebook

We weren’t exactly shocked to see that Amazon’s Cyber Monday sale on Echo devices is to die for — but we were kind of shook over Amazon’s most recent (and possibly most futuristic) Echo device, the Echo Look, being on Cyber Monday sale for 75% off.

One question: IS NO ONE ELSE FREAKING OUT OVER THIS?

This is easily the biggest sale we’ve seen on it since its release to the public in June 2018 — but more importantly, when have you ever seen Amazon put an Echo device at 75% off? Amazon is seriously playing Godfather with an offer we can’t refuse.

The Look is an Alexa-enabled virtual style assistant that uses artificial intelligence to judge your outfits and give clothing suggestions, which is pretty groundbreaking — even for the creators of Alexa. The hands-free camera can sit on a flat surface or be mounted to a wall to take head-to-toe and 360-degree photos, which it uses to compare outfits with the Style Check feature, telling you which outfit looks better on you based on machine learning and advice from fashion experts. The new Amazon Echo Dot is still in stock at Target (for now) and on sale for $24 for Black Friday

TwitterFacebook

Happy Black Friday, you frugal, frugal people.

It wasn’t quite a secret that Amazon Echo devices were going to be one of the hottest items this year. If you held off your spending until you could get Alexa in your house for cheap, you’re smart — because the entire lineup is on super sale for Black Friday.

Unfortunately, the sale was so good that the recently-released 2018 Echo Dot has been out of stock since the beginning of Black Friday week, and won’t be back until the end of the month. (That’s what competing with the $24 Google Home Mini sale gets you.) Although you can still order it on Amazon and await the re-stock, if you’re super impatient and just need it now, keep reading.
