TwitterFacebook

One thing we know: the Star Wars must end. Well, the Star Wars as we know them, at least.

Buried in the official announcement of the Star Wars Episode IX cast — masked by fan euphoria over the confirmed return of Mark Hamill (presumably as Luke Skywalker’s Force ghost) and Billy Dee Williams as Lando Calrissian, behind the heart-rending detail that unseen footage of Carrie Fisher will be used to help send off General Leia Organa — was this all-important detail.

The Skywalker saga, that episodic tale blasted onto screens around the world since 1977, will cease with this movie’s release in 2019.  Read more…

George Lucas’ plan for the Star Wars sequels was … what now?

TwitterFacebook

First a caveat: since 1977, Star Wars creator George Lucas has had a long history of making statements about his plans for future Star Wars films that do not pan out. He is, to put it politely, something of an improvisational artist.

How running a fake ‘Last Jedi’ porg fan account taught me to let go of my anger

I remember the first time I saw a porg, I thought, “I have a bad feeling about this.”
Porgs, a small aquatic alien species native to the planet Ahch-To, debuted earlier this year in a behind-the-scenes video for Star Wars: The Last Jedi. They h…

Star Wars fans, Last Jedi director Rian Johnson has heard what you want as the subject of his upcoming trilogy of Star Wars movies. And he’s not buying it.
He’s sympathetic. He loves the subject in question. But alas, that is definitively not what he…
