MoviePass is unlimited again, but you never know when that’ll change

After a brief experiment with limited plans, MoviePass is back to offering new users one movie per day.

This comes just a couple weeks after a limited plan offering users four movies a month and paying quarterly ($29.95/month). It also came with a free trial of iHeartRadio All Access.

“We never planned to abandon the flagship product that everybody loves,” MoviePass CEO Mitch Lowe told Variety, referring to the unlimited plan. “Any time we’ve done a promotional package, we’ve taken the monthly plan off our site.”

Though limited in theory, the four-movies-per-month plan is probably more realistic for a number of users, and it’s slightly cheaper, at about $7.95/month. Read more…

MoviePass keeps dropping its prices and we don’t know how

The now-infamous app MoviePass has dropped its already incredibly low prices. For a limited time, new users can get MoviePass – a.k.aunlimited movies in theaters – for $6.95/month. According to a press release from the company, MoviePass works at 91 percent of American movie theaters.

In February, MoviePass offered a package deal with movie streaming service Fandor for $7.95/month.

Per the press release, the price drop came about as a result of MoviePass’s relationships with studios, exhibitors, and marketing partners. 

“Our vision has always been to make the movie going experience easy and affordable for anyone, anywhere,” said MoviePass CEO Mitch Lowe. “With the current growth and support that we’ve seen within the last several months, our studio and exhibitor revenues and other marketing partnerships have motivated us to lower the price once again, offering movie lovers greater access to MoviePass.” Read more…
