Apple CEO Tim Cook remembers Steve Jobs in heartfelt commencement speech
Apple CEO Tim Cook turned to a familiar source when it came to offering advice to the class of 2018.
Speaking at the commencement ceremony at Duke University, Cook encouraged the students in attendance to learn from the example set by Apple founder Steve Jobs.
“No big challenge has ever been solved, and no lasting improvement has ever been achieved unless people dare to try something different, dare to think different,” Cook said echoing the words of Apple’s famous marketing campaign.

President Donald Trump and Apple CEO Tim Cook are set to meet on Wednesday afternoon. And though the temperamentally and politically opposed men are in no way amicable, it’s easy to imagine either party initiating the tête-à-tête.
That’s because, when it comes to trade, taxes, and China, a lot is on the line for the both parties.

With Trump’s reference to trade in a recent tweet about the meeting, and with a brewing trade war with China, it seems as though Cook and Trump will most likely discuss Apple’s position as a company with interests in both the U.S. and China — and why it wants to keep trade flowing. Read more…

The tiff between two of the most powerful men in Silicon Valley started last week when Cook was asked what he would do if he were Zuckerberg in the wake of the Cambridge Analytica scandal. He responded with a curt answer: “I wouldn’t be in this situation.”

Goodness! And look at that face.
Of course, Tim Cook really wouldn’t be in this situation, given that he isn’t in the social media business. (Ping, a failed social network tied to iTunes, was a product of the Steve Jobs era, after all.) And Apple has championed user privacy to an extreme degree, notably warring with the FBI over a locked iPhone connected to a terrorist attack in San Bernardino, California. Read more…
