Why the Trump administration is terrified of these children

Twenty-one children, adolescents, and young adults — all between the ages of 11 and 22 — were set to face off against the United States in an Oregon courthouse on Oct. 29. 

But instead, the highest court in the land has temporarily halted the unprecedented climate trial after the Trump administration asked the Supreme Court — in a 38-page request — to put things on hold. 

The young plaintiffs, some still in grammar school, are suing the U.S. government for supporting a national energy system that emits prodigious amounts of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, thus stoking human-caused climate change and endangering their futures. Read more…

Uber’s new CEO says he banned employees from using secure messaging apps for Uber business

Uber’s new CEO has been trying to clean-up the mess cofounder Travis Kalanick left behind. One sweeping change was a total crackdown on secure messaging apps when it comes to business matters. 

CEO Dara Khosrowshahi tweeted Wednesday that he forbid employees from using apps like Wickr and Telegram shortly after he joined the company. He shared that nugget of information while Uber’s top lawyer is currently testifying on allegedly receiving stolen proprietary information from Google’s Waymo. 

True that Wickr, Telegram were used often at Uber when I came in. As of Sept 27th I directed my teams NOT to use such Apps when discussing Uber-related business.

Uber’s bad 2017 just got even worse.

A former Uber employee alleged in court on Tuesday that the company had operated a special team that was tasked with finding—or maybe stealing—trade secrets from other companies. 

The team, called “Marketplace Analytics,” helped Uber find people and resources that could help it gain a competitive advantage over other companies, according to Rick Jacobs, a former Uber employee who revealed the existence of the team during testimony in the ongoing lawsuit between Google’s parent company Alphabet and Uber over self-driving car technology.  Read more…
