Even David Karp himself doesn’t use Yahoo Mail

Did anyone else notice that David Karp’s resignation letter from Tumblr was clearly written in Gmail?

That’s right, Karp, we caught you. Tumblr’s founder and former CEO doesn’t use Yahoo mail, the mail service of Tumblr’s parent company. 

Your proof: the email Karp sent to his staff explaining his resignation. The layout, font, and interface of his screenshot are clearly that of Google’s email service — not Yahoo’s. 

Tumblr did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

In the letter, Karp states that “This team and place has been my family and home for most of my adult life.” Clearly, however, it hasn’t been the home of his emails correspondence.  Read more…

Tumblr CEO David Karp is leaving the company after more than 10 years

Tumblr founder and CEO David Karp is stepping down after more than 10 years.

“I beg you to understand that my decision comes after months of reflection on my personal ambitions, and at no cost to my hopefulness for Tumblr’s future or the impact I know it can have,” Karp wrote in a letter to employees

A spokesperson for Tumblr parent company Oath confirmed the news, saying the company’s COO, Jeff D’Onofrio, will oversee Tumblr after Karp’s departure,

Though the longtime CEO, who together with developer Marco Arment founded Tumblr in 2006, was never as high profile as other tech CEOs like Mark Zuckerberg or former boss Marissa Mayer, he was widely loved and respected among Tumblr’s legion of hardcore fans.  Read more…
