Famous kid who fought for his lesbian moms right to marry just won his Iowa primary

Seven years ago, 19-year-old Zach Wahls made internet magic when he spoke before the Iowa House of Representatives and defended his lesbian mothers’ right to marriage.

Fast forward to 2018. On Tuesday night, Wahls won the Democratic nomination for Iowa Senate District 37, earning close to 60% of the vote.

Wahls, who will be running for a seat typically occupied by Democrats, is considered the favorite to win the general election. He’s running against libertarian Carl Krambeck, who ran unopposed. Read more…
