WTF, someone briefly stole Frances McDormand’s Oscar

After Frances McDormand’s stirring Best Actress acceptance speech, you’d be hard pressed to find anyone at the Oscars who begrudged the Three Billboards star a justified win for her film. However, a New York Times reporter tweeted later in the evening that a stranger grabbed McDormand’s Oscar and tried to steal it.

He was quickly stopped and then left, but…wow.

The man in question was not identified, but he was caught in the act by Wolfgang Puck’s photographer. Cara Buckley from the Times reported that McDormand had momentarily set down her award while talking to someone at the Governors Ball. Read more…
