Alicia Vikander has praised Frances McDormand’s Oscar acceptance speech and described the ways in which Time’s Up has impacted her own career.

Speaking to Mashable live on Facebook on Monday, Vikander — who is starring in the upcoming adaptation of Tomb Raider — talked about the effect the campaign is having on people in the industry.

“I was there with Time’s Up presenting at the Golden Globes and I found myself, in the weeks leading up to that, in more discussions and more phonecalls with actresses, writers, directors — females that I have, sadly, just kind of been pushed far away from in the industry,” said Vikander. In Frances McDormand’s impassioned Oscars acceptance speech for Best Actress, she plead with film industry heavyweights in the room to pay attention to the women around them — whose stories need telling and financing.

Chloe Kim is ‘shook’ by Frances McDormand’s Oscars shoutout

Famously hangry U.S. snowboarder Chloe Kim is reeling after a shoutout from Frances McDormand at this year’s Oscars.

The 17-year-old gold medallist was singled out by the Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri star during her Best Actress acceptance speech.

“I think is what Chloe Kim must have felt like after doing back-to-back 1080s in the Olympic half-pipe,” said McDormand, accepting her Academy Award.

At the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics, Kim landed two 1080s in the women’s snowboard halfpipe to win her first Olympic gold medal on Feb. 13. Read more…
