Alyssa Milano’s next viral cause: women’s equality

TwitterFacebook

Ask Alyssa Milano what’s next for the Me Too movement, and she’ll say it’s the passage of the Equal Rights Amendment, a Constitutional amendment that would grant women legal equality.

The United States almost ratified the proposed amendment in 1982, but three more states needed to approve it. (Before an amendment becomes part of the Constitution, three-fourths of states must adopt it.) Now the ERA is back in the news — and so is Milano along with it.

The amendment is now one state away from ratification, and the liberal actress and advocate is pushing for one more legislature to approve it. The amendment recently failed in Virginia, but Milano has been joining forces with politicians and tweeting about the ERA.  Read more…

On August 10th, Netflix made Insatiable available as scheduled — and the mystery of whether its promotion was a marketing faux pas or a sneak peek into a costly mistake was ripe for the solving. Read more…

Alyssa Milano slams Matt Damon for his misguided comments on sexual misconduct

TwitterFacebook

Alyssa Milano is holding Matt Damon accountable.

On Friday, the actress and activist tweeted a scathing open letter to Damon after his series of misguided-at-best comments on sexual misconduct in Hollywood.

During an interview with Peter Travers, Damon appeared to worry a little too much about the “culture of outrage” around men who abuse their power — not on the damaged lives of their victims.

At one point, for example, he opined on Louis C.K.: “I imagine the price that he’s paid at this point is so beyond anything that he — I just think that we have to kind of start delineating between what these behaviors are,” he said. Read more…
