Elon Musk: Tesla Model 3 production was ‘a deeper level of hell than we expected’

TwitterFacebook

To the dismay of electric-vehicle customers, delivery dates for some customers who ordered Tesla’s Model 3 all-electric sedan have been pushed back — again

Refreshingly, on Tesla’s Q4 earnings call Wednesday, CEO Elon Musk was contrite, and transparent about the cause of the delay.

“While there were challenges associated with Model 3 ramp, we were in a deeper level of hell than we expected,” Musk said. “Still a few levels deeper than we’d like to be, but swiftly exiting, I think.”

Mangled cars show the raw destructive power of California mudslides

TwitterFacebook

If anyone doubted the sheer destructive power of the mudslides that have devastated Southern California this week, a video posted to Instagram Thursday should hammer the point home.

The video, which was uploaded by The Knight Show podcast and verified by Storyful, hovers over two utterly mangled blobs of crushed steel and twisted plastic on Hammonds Beach in Santa Barbara.

One of the unlucky cars, which had made a trip down Montecito Creek following heavy rain in the region, was apparently an H3 Hummer.

This wild-looking electric SUV concept has way more tech than anyone needs

TwitterFacebook

CES has barely begun and already there’s no shortage of pie-in-the-sky electric vehicle concepts.

Today, Chinese EV startup Byton unveiled its electric SUV concept, a wannabe Tesla killer that’s crammed full of so much tech it would make Elon Musk’s head spin.

Seriously. The vehicle, which will allegedly make its official debut sometime in 2019 and will start at $45,000, is overflowing with so many displays and tech industry buzzwords it’s hard to know where to begin.

For starters, it has a total of four — yes, four — different displays, including 49-inch monstrosity that stretches across the entire dash and a smaller panel built right into the steering wheel. Two more tablets sit behind the driver’s seat and passenger headrest for the rear passengers. Read more…
