‘Jurassic Park’ returning to theaters for 25th anniversary

TwitterFacebook

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom blew up the box office just two months ago—and yet Universal is already inviting moviegoers back into its prehistoric pandemonium.

This September,  in honor of its 25th anniversary, Steven Spielberg’s original Jurassic Park will retake big screens across the country. With over 500 participating theaters, ticket availability should be high. Jurassic fanatics will have a much better shot at getting seats here than at one of August’s super in demand Dark Knight IMAX showings.

The largest dinosaur foot ever belongs to ‘Bigfoot’

TwitterFacebook

The largest dinosaur foot ever found, belonging to one of the largest land animals this planet’s ever seen, surely deserves the title “Bigfoot” more than Sasquatch.

Excavated in 1998 by an expedition from the University of Kansas, and described in a new study published in PeerJ – the Journal of Life and Environmental Sciences, “Bigfoot” was discovered in the Black Hills area of Wyoming. Scientists determined the dinosaur — a very close relative of Brachiosaurus — had the biggest feet of any sauropod, and roamed the area 150 million years ago.

Crew member Anthony Maltese, who is also the lead author of the study, writes that the foot was nearly 1 meter wide. It didn’t belong to the largest dinosaur ever discovered, the study said, but “Bigfoot” did have particularly large feet. Read more…

Giant, newly discovered dinosaur was literally a huge weirdo

TwitterFacebook

You’re standing in a lush forest 230 million years ago in what is now Argentina.

You’re alone among the Triassic shrubbery. Suddenly, an elephant-sized dinosaur comes lumbering your way through the overgrowth.

The dinosaur looks somewhat familiar — kind of like a much smaller brachiosaurus — but it’s definitely different.

Instead of the straight legs, huge bodies, and long necks that have come to define the sauropods, this odd-looking creature has bent legs and a shorter neck, but it’s definitely huge, if not as big as its much larger cousins.  Read more…

Jurassic ‘World Evolution’ is the dino video game of our childhood dreams

Tycoon games became a staple in many childhoods after Rollercoaster Tycoon showed us the joy of murdering a bunch of innocent theme park visitors through horribly designed coaster rides.
Now imagine that, but instead of death traps disguised as a rol…

Googly eyes make everything better.

Artist and cosplayer Hattie Grace jazzed up a book of dinosaur illustrations with a classic arts and craft supply.

“Googly eyes add so much to dinosaur history,” they tweeted.

Psittacosaurus looks a lot less threatening with big, glossy eyeballs. Hattie even added eyebrows to make a very concerned-looking triceratops.
