Logan Paul is many things, but thankfully he is not a flat Earther. 

In a 50-minute, 2-second mockumentary that included a torrid affair with a flat Earther, a betrayal from a roommate, and a rap that rhymes “NASA” with “I think I’m gonna passa,” the YouTube star announced that no, he doesn’t actually think the Earth is flat.

YouTube promises to stop recommending flat Earth and 9/11 truther videos

Even without Alex Jones, harmful conspiracy theory videos were running rampant on YouTube. Now, the company says it’s going to take action.

In a blog post published on Friday, YouTube said it would be making changes to its recommendations algorithm to explicitly deal with conspiracy theory videos. The company says the update will reduce the suggestion of “borderline content and content that could misinform users in harmful ways.”

YouTube clarified what kind of videos fit that description by providing three examples: “videos promoting a phony miracle cure for a serious illness, claiming the earth is flat, or making blatantly false claims about historic events like 9/11.” Read more…

Flat Earthers plan a cruise that uses charts of a round planet to navigate

Someone is going to tell them, right?

Flat Earthers from around the globe disc are planning an all-out cruise for the 2020 Flat Earther International Conference. Promised to be the “biggest, boldest, best adventure yet,” the cruise will bring like-minded people together who all believe the planet is a disc protected by an ice wall barrier. There’s only one tiny hole in this plan — the cruise ship relies on navigational equipment based on a spherical Earth. 

“Nautical charts are designed with that in mind: that the Earth is round,” former cruise ship captain Henk Keijer told The Guardian. Keijer captained cruise ships for 23 years and is now a forensic marine expert.  Read more…
