Town erects plastic covering over Banksy’s latest mural

TwitterFacebook

File this one under deeply ironic — yet sadly necessary.

On Wednesday, the elusive street artist Banksy claimed responsibility on Instagram for a new mural that appeared on the wall of a garage in the south Wales town of Port Talbot.

Then, days after the work appeared, the town erected a transparent plastic sheet wall to protect the latest work from the artist who made a name for himself by vandalizing public property.

The irony is difficult to ignore, but the town’s actions are wholly understandable.

Someone turned this scrawled graffiti into a work of art with 1 simple sign

Remember that guy last month who turned the gaping hole in his office wall into a work of art?

Well it looks like the trend is catching on.

U2’s new music video is a vibrant yet disturbing call for resistance

TwitterFacebook

U2 has released an admittedly very Bono, but also actually pretty cool, animated video for their new single “Get Out Of Your Own Way.” The track is off their “Songs of Experience” album, which is out on Spotify, iTunes, and other services.

With lyrics like “Fight back, don’t take it lying down you’ve got to bite back/ The face of liberty is starting to crack,” the song is a rallying cry for social change across the world in the face of growing nationalism, fascism, and racism. The lyrics are pretty general “resistance” calls to action, but in the video’s animation, things get more interesting and specific. Read more…

Meghan Markle is Madonna and Prince Harry is naked in this cheeky mobile graffiti

In the UK, even street artists are devoted to the royals.

Pegasus is so excited about the engagement of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle that he sprayed the lovebirds on the back of a black van and then drove it across central London.

The artist, who’s based in London but was born in the U.S., pictured Markle and Harry during their stag and hen dos (bachelor and bachelorette parties), with the word “party” in big pink letters.  Read more…
