There have been some vicious rumours circulating that Black Friday deals are dead. You shouldn’t believe everything you hear, though, because most rumours are simply not true.

OK, we may have insinuated that Black Friday has come to an end, once or twice. We don’t like to spread gossip but it’s a tricky business making predictions and Black Friday seems to just go on and on these days. Nothing to complain about, of course. If leading retailers want to continue pushing great deals then we all win.

Apple is expected to reveal three new iPhones at its Sept. 12 “Gather Round” event.

They’re not going to be cheap — luckily, if you bought an iPhone X, you can trade it in to get cash or a gift card to put toward your new device. 

First off, you’ll want to know the condition of your device, the model, and the storage size. Go to Settings > General > About to see the model number and the storage size of your iPhone. 

After that, check out the top trade-in sites to see which one will give you the best deal.

How Apple’s helping to fight HIV and AIDS with red iPhone 8’s

Apple’s new red-colored iPhone 8 and 8 Plus are more than just a bright new shade to match your outfit. The new iPhones are part of (Product)RED, and a portion of every sale goes directly to the non-profit, The Global Fund, to help fight HIV and AIDS.

Since it partnered up with (RED) in 2006, Apple has contributed over $160 million to the Global Fund — $30 million of which was added last year after launching the (Product)Red iPhone 7 and 7 Plus — making the tech giant the largest contributor to the Global Fund.

$160 million is a drop in the bucket compared to Apple’s near $1 trillion valuation, but it’s more than  the total amount the governments of Greece, Hungary, Iceland, New Zealand, and Switzerland have given combined, (RED)’s CEO Deborah Dugan tells me. Read more…

Red iPhone 8 and 8 Plus might be coming this week

Remember last year’s red iPhone 7 — the first iPhone to launch as a Product (RED), a special edition line of products that help fund and promote (RED)’s efforts to fight HIV and AIDS? 

Apple may be giving the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus a similar treatment, according to a new Virgin Mobile Memo, obtained by MacRumors. 

According to the memo, Virgin Mobile will be adding red variants of iPhone 8 and 8 Plus to its inventory on Monday, April 9, and a launch announcement from Apple (no event, just a press release) might happen on the same day. The devices will be available for pre-order, which indicates a later shipping date.  Read more…
