‘Mr. Robot’ to end run after upcoming fourth season

Mr. Robot‘s fourth season on USA will be its last, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The final season will feature an extended run of 12 episodes instead of eight before bowing out.

The striking hacker drama starring Rami Malek debuted in 2015, when it floored critics and audiences with a fresh, addictive take on the hacker trope with a twist of psychological thrill. 

Malek’s breakout performance earned him an Emmy and a lifetime spot on the list of actors now inseparable from their iconic television roles. 

Creator Sam Esmail originally considered doing a fifth season – back when Season 4 was supposed to be shorter – but ultimately chose to condense the story. Read more…

We live in an era of peak television – peak prestige television. Shows with prolific stars, massive budgets, and high production value are competing as viciously as the rest, sometimes at the cost of what the writers actually mean to say.

As we fall for labyrinthine shows like Westworld, full of twists and puzzles and sweeping monologues about humanity, it can be easy to get lost in the noise and lose sight of the narrative. As awesome as it is to be challenged by the shows we watch, prestige TV needs to take itself less seriously and spend more time telling the story.

With Mr. Robot‘s Season 3 finale looming, USA Network announced the series has been renewed for a fourth season.

Mr. Robot follows Rami Malek’s Elliot Alderson, who gets mixed up with a hacker group known as “fsociety,” led by the titular character Mr. Robot (played by Christian Slater). The show is full of deception, intrigue, and bizarre twists and turns.

The 10th and final episode of Season 3, titled “shutdown -r,” is airing Wednesday night, and fans were pretty excited to find out there are more episodes to come. Read more…
