Mobile World Congress is primarily a show for new phone announcements, but Microsoft used the show to unveil its brand new HoloLens 2.

The new augmented reality headset is sleeker-looking, more comfortable, and more powerful than the previous generation that debuted in 2016. But most importantly, HoloLens 2 has a much wider field of view (FOV) — more than double the FOV of the original HoloLens — to enable more immersive mixed reality experiences.

Huawei’s new MateBook X Pro and MateBook 14 are great alternatives to a MacBook Pro

TwitterFacebook

Huawei wants to be known for more than just its excellent Android phones. Last year, the tech titan surprised everyone with the thin and powerful MateBook X Pro — arguably one of the best laptops of the 2018 — as a serious competitor to Apple’s MacBook Pro.

At Mobile World Congress, Huawei announced a revamped version with updated specs including a faster Intel 8th-generation Core i7 processor, more powerful discrete graphics, faster wired and wireless connectivity, and several new ways to wirelessly connect a Huawei phone to boost productivity.

Huawei also took the wraps off a more affordable MateBook 14 with many of the same features. It’s a great time to consider a Windows 10 laptop if you’re not satisfied with the compromises in Apple’s latest MacBook Pros. Read more…

Samsung Galaxy S10, S10e, and S10+ take premium Android phones to the next level

No matter how much better the camera is on the Google Pixel 3 or how fast the OnePlus 6T is, no one makes Android phones quite like Samsung.

After 10 years of iterating the Galaxy phone line, Samsung has arrived at the Galaxy S10 — easily the company’s most exciting phone in years.

There are three versions of the Galaxy S10: the 5.8-inch S10e, the 6.1-inch S10, and the 6.4-inch S10+.

Each variant has a screen that covers even more of the front, provides better performance, and features in-display fingerprint sensors. The Galaxy S10 and S10+ even come equipped with three cameras. But even though nobody has a 5G phone yet — more than 30 devices expected to ship with the first-gen X50 5G modem — Qualcomm’s already planning for even faster and more power-efficient 5G devices.

Ahead of Mobile World Congress, Qualcomm is announcing the Snapdragon X55 5G modem, its second-generation 5G modem for mobile devices.
