Donald Trump Jr. just posted something very dumb and bad on Instagram and I swear this is not a repeat.

This time, the president’s son went after newly-elected congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her democratic socialist background by using a meme about eating dogs.

Making the whole post even worse is Junior’s caption, “It’s funny cuz it’s true!!!” Setting aside for a moment the racist roots of dog-eating jokes, the meme is likely a reference to the currently horrific conditions in Venezuela where citizens have reportedly been reduced to hunting and eating rats and dogs due to food shortages due to the country’s economic collapse which many blame on its current socialist president. More than a dozen Democratic Socialists won last night in a wave of rose emojis

In 2017 — in some parts of the country, at least — socialism is no longer a dirty word.

For months, the number of takes about the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) greatly outpaced the number of elected offices they held. While that’s still entirely true, Tuesday’s election night gains for the group were fairly substantial. The Democratic Socialists picked up a historic 15 seats across the country, adding to the 20 members they already have in office.

Without context, that number may seem kinda weak. Historically, however, it has value. The DSA saw a 75% increase in elected officials last night, as well as something of a spiritual rebrand. It’s a percentage that shouldn’t be ignored, especially when you consider the group’s unexpectedly diverse geographic appeal. Read more…

Stephen Colbert has no time for born-rich people making obnoxious points about socialism, using innocent children.

We’re referring to Donald Trump Jr.’s incredibly tone-deaf tweet on Halloween, which included a picture of his daughter Chloe looking sad, and a supposedly economic and political “lesson.”

“Yes, it’s never too early to teach kids the danger of sharing,” Colbert said. “Also, it’s never too early to learn the proper spelling of ‘too.'”

“But while we’re at it, Don Jr., on Halloween, kids go to door to door to get free candy from the neighbors, because the kids don’t have it, and the neighbors do. That’s socialism,” Colbert added. Read more…

Very rich person Donald Trump Jr., who inherited his wealth from his father, would like to make a point about socialism. To do it he’s going to use his innocent child, Chloe.

The president’s son tweeted a photo of his daughter Chloe looking sad on Tuesday holding up a bucket filled with Halloween candy. “I’m going to take half of Chloe’s candy tonight & give it to some kid who sat at home. It’s never to early to teach her about socialism,” he wrote.
