All 10 Star Wars movies, ranked — including ‘The Last Jedi’

TwitterFacebook

With the release of The Last Jedi on Friday, Lucasfilm marks a major milestone. Believe it or not, this is the 10th Star Wars movie released in theaters.

Yeah, 10 movies, not just the eight Skywalker saga films plus Rogue One. There’s one red-headed cinematic stepchild Lucasfilm would rather forget. Still, 10 is a significant achievement. One worth commemorating with — what else? A top 10 list!

This, then, is the first ever ranking by a viewer of all 10 Star Wars movies. Naturally, you’re free to disagree with the placements. This is the start of a conversation, not the end.  Read more…

‘Last Jedi’ director: I’m not copying ‘Empire Strikes Back,’ but I’m also not not copying it

TwitterFacebook

Back in the innocent days of December 2015, some critics of The Force Awakens believed the movie to be a “remake” of the original 1977 Star Wars

These people were wrong — one desert planet orphan does not a remake make — and we obsessives at Mashable took the time to prove this with a shot-by-shot comparison.

Still, as is often the case with reductive reasoning, the “remake” label stuck in the mind of many moviegoers. So you’d think when it came to the Force Awakens sequel The Last Jedi, director Rian Johnson might take care to avoid all comparisons between his film and that best-loved Star Wars sequel, 1980’s The Empire Strikes Back.   Read more…

Kids lose their minds as they visit a fan-made, life-sized version of Kylo Ren’s ‘Star Wars’ TIE Silencer

TwitterFacebook

Kylo Ren is a pretty bad guy, but we cannot deny that he takes his design aesthetics very seriously. He shares an appreciation for all black outfits, a cool helmet, a bizarre lightsaber, but most importantly, he has the sleekest whip in the entire galaxy.

Sorry, Millennium Falcon.

Popular Youtuber, Colin Furze was given the task, in collaboration with eBay, to try and create a life-sized Kylo Ren TIE silencer along with a BB-9E droid from the Star Wars: The Last Jedi movie. Furze got some help from XRobots James Burton.

The video shows a group of children all throughly excited about the idea of flying through space with Kylo Ren’s streamlined spaceship. The entire TIE fighter took six weeks to build and will be on display at the Burghley House in Stamford until Dec. 10. Now we just have to wait for someone to build a working Star Wars X-34 Landspeeder so we can feel like Luke Skywalker.    Read more…

John Boyega has heard your Finn theories about ‘The Last Jedi’ and he has some notes

TwitterFacebook

You think Game of Thrones has fan theories? That’s cute. Nowhere’s got fan theories like the galaxy far, far away. (I blame Supreme Leader Snoke, but that’s just my theory.)

Many of these theories currently concern the notion that there is more than one Jedi in The Last Jedi. Director Rian Johnson keeps shooting that whole thing down — Luke is specifically named the last Jedi in the opening crawl of The Force Awakens, he notes. This ancient, lightsaber-twirling, Force-filled order has no other official adherents, and Luke thinks it must end.
