Extremely talented Nintendo fan has recreated ‘Super Mario 64’ and it’s straight up stunning

TwitterFacebook

They say, “If you want something done right, do it yourself.”

YouTuber, game developer, and general badass NimsoNY recently posted an entirely redesigned version of Peach’s Castle from Super Mario 64—and mamma mia, it’s amazing. Complete with a portrait gallery of fan art, this reimagining of the original 1996 game allows players to explore the grounds of the castle, try out some new technical features, and toy with custom animations using the Mario character model from Super Mario Odyssey.

Clearly motivated by lots of love for the franchise, NimsoNY says he spent a month on the project. His justification? “I wanted to see this myself.” Read more…

‘Super Mario 64’ meets ‘Banjo-Kazooie’ in the mash-up of your ’90s dreams

TwitterFacebook

Imagine, two of the greatest Nintendo 64 games, mashed up into one epic late ’90s adventure featuring a lot of wahoo-ing.

Modders Trenavix, Waschpenner and Shyguyhex have thrown favourites Super Mario 64 and Banjo-Kazooie together — and it works pretty damn well. Using the SM64Paint program, the modders have dropped your ol’ pal Mario right into the “Spiral Mountain” level of the game usually inhabited by an agreeable bear, Banjo, who carries his bird best friend around in a backpack (that lazy Kazooie).

Mario Bear has come to save 2017

It’s been a long year – it feels like it actually spanned about 50, in fact. But now, at the end, some relief: Mario Bear. Yes, it’s just a bear from Build-A-Bear Workshop. And a ‘brand collaboration,’ that horrific thing that usually just means some executives get a larger Christmas bonus and more people are convinced to part with their hard-earned money on… Read More

‘Super Mario Odyssey’ easter egg has fans theorizing about future kingdoms

TwitterFacebook

There’s an easter egg hidden in plain sight in Super Mario Odyssey and it has some fans theorizing about potential new content coming to the game.

Hint Toad appears in every single kingdom in Super Mario Odyssey to help Mario find power moons (for a price), and he’s always holding a map of what most would assume is that current kingdom. Twitter user Frying_Pants pointed out that it’s actually a map of a level in Super Mario 64, the first 3D Super Mario game from 1996.
