Tesla hits back at employee’s racial discrimination claims

TwitterFacebook

Tesla has unrelentingly hit back at a class-action complaint which labeled the carmaker’s factories a “hotbed for racist behavior.”

In a statement titled a “Hotbed of Misinformation” issued on its website Wednesday, Tesla said it is “absolutely against any form of discrimination, harassment, or unfair treatment of any kind.”

The plaintiff is former employee Marcus Vaughn, who claimed he was routinely called the “n-word” by supervisors while working at Tesla. Vaughn also said he was fired in October “for not having a positive attitude” after complaining to Tesla’s human resources department. Read more…

The badass new Corvette isn’t part of GM’s ‘all-electric’ future

TwitterFacebook

GM might be positioning itself for an all-electric future, but it’s still producing stupidly-fast supercars like the gas-powered 2019 Corvette ZR1.

GM unveiled this beast a few days before the 2017 Dubai auto show. The Corvette ZR1 — a life-sized Hot Wheels toy for adults — will hit roads in spring 2018.

The iconic Corvette sports car has been racing across highways since 1953, and although it’s been made badder and faster over the years, the 2019 ZR1 is the most powerful Corvette yet. In fact, it’s now one of the most high-performance factory-produced cars around: It hits speeds of 210 miles per hour thanks to its 755-horsepower engine.  Read more…

Tesla’s newest driving mode is ‘Chill’

TwitterFacebook

Tesla streamed out a new software update to its electric vehicles this week; included is a new acceleration mode called simply “Chill.”

Earlier this week, the car reviewer DragTimes posted a video in which they stumbled upon the new mellow driving option while testing out the latest update in a Tesla Model S, the company’s luxury-class electric vehicle. Here’s how Tesla, in the settings on its touchscreen dashboard, describes Chill mode:

While experimenting with Chill in the Model S 100D, DragTimes found its acceleration in standard mode hit 0 to 60 in just under 4 seconds. But when in Chill mode, the Model S hit 0 to 60 mph in 7.2 seconds, which was described as “ridiculously slow, like what is even the point — no one wants to drive like that.”  Read more…

TwitterFacebook

Elon Musk visited Turkey and met with the country’s president Recep Tayyip Erdogan, but no one knows exactly why — but the summit could have something to do with Tesla and Turkey’s domestic automotive ambitions.

The meeting comes shortly after five Turkish businesses launched a joint venture to produce a Turkish-made vehicle, according to the Associated Press. The project was reportedly encouraged by Erdogan, and the state has sponsored electric auto projects in the past that aimed to compete with Tesla in the country.
