Despite bombshell book, Donald Trump wants all of you to know he’s ‘like, really smart’

TwitterFacebook

2018 sure is off to a running start in Trumpland.

The 45th President of the United States kicked off a busy weekend of meetings at Camp David on Saturday with a brief, fiery tweetstorm that — even at this early point in 2018 — is already a surefire candidate for the year’s most memorable.

In three tweets, Donald Trump addressed his intellect (“being, like, really smart”), his mental stability (“a very stable genius”), and his successful presidential election campaign (“on my first try”). He doesn’t come out and say it, but the tweets are likely a response to Michael Wolff’s upcoming book, in which Trump insiders question the president’s stability on the record, and/or recent meetings on Capitol Hill to discuss the president’s mental state. Donald Trump attended Midnight Mass for Christmas and heard all about the power of words

Do you think the message landed?
As Donald and Melania Trump sat for Midnight Mass in the wee morning hours of Christmas Day, the presiding reverend at one point seemed to speak directly to the Twitter-loving 45th president. It happened during the ho…

Europe’s new internet regulations should make most Americans jealous

TwitterFacebook

Massive tech companies are watching who you are and what you do on the internet, and there’s not much you can do about it.

Fortunately, the European Union is here to save at least some of us.

The EU is less than six months away from instituting the most aggressive personal data protections ever seen, limiting how tech companies can collect, secure, and use your information — and making sure they let you know just what they’re doing.

The rules will put the EU far ahead of the U.S. in terms of regulating tech companies. The U.S. is considering no such rules at this time.

Donald Trump’s latest tweet proves he really doesn’t understand the right to remain silent

TwitterFacebook

“You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law.”

Donald Trump really needs to give the Miranda Warning a good, long think before he tweets again, given that he’s currently under investigation for — among other things — possible obstruction of justice. Though it may already be too late, given the latest @RealDonaldTrump utterance on the president’s favorite social media platform.

I had to fire General Flynn because he lied to the Vice President and the FBI. He has pled guilty to those lies. It is a shame because his actions during the transition were lawful. There was nothing to hide!

New Zealand’s prime minister delivered a sick burn to Donald Trump

TwitterFacebook

New Zealand’s new prime minister, Jacinda Ardern, has really hit the ground running.

Although the PM started her term with the tragic loss of her internet-beloved cat, Paddles, things are comin’ up Milhouse after an apparent little dig at U.S. President Donald Trump.

In an interview with New Zealand news site Newsroom, Ardern, who was elected in October, recapped her recent visit to the East Asia Summit.

Best bit? A small serving for Trump.

“I was waiting to walk out to be introduced at the East Asia Summit gala dinner, where we all paraded and while we were waiting, Trump in jest patted the person next to him on the shoulder, pointed at me and said, ‘This lady caused a lot of upset in her country,’ talking about the election.” Read more…

George H.W. Bush on Donald Trump: ‘I don’t like him.’

TwitterFacebook

There ain’t no shade like ex-U.S. president shade, because ex-U.S. president shade comes from someone who was literally a leader of the free world.

Today’s shade-thrower is George H.W. Bush. The first President Bush pulls no punches in his frank take on Donald Trump. The detail, in the form of a direct quote, comes from author John Updegrove’s upcoming book, The Last Republicans, which explores the father-son relationship between the father-son ex-Presidents Bush.

“I don’t like him,” the senior Bush said in Updegrove’s book, out Nov. 14. “I don’t know much about him, but I know he’s a blowhard. And I’m not too excited about him being a leader.” Read more…
