Dictonary.com just came for Roseanne Barr and her racist comments

TwitterFacebook

Roseanne Barr is the subject of countless headlines and tweets on Tuesday after posting racist remarks on Twitter before announcing she would be leaving the platform altogether.

Barr’s since-deleted tweet was pointed towards Barack Obama’s former advisor Valerie Jarrett, saying if the “Muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby=vj.”

As noted by many Twitter users, some outlets covered the incident without explicitly calling the behavior “racist.” Instead, they chose to initially use words or phrases like “bizarre,” “offensive,” or “racially charged.” Believe it or not, Dictionary.com is on the front lines, calling them out.  Read more…

Heineken apologizes, pulls controversial ad after being called out by Chance the Rapper

TwitterFacebook

Heineken is the latest brand to pull a Pepsi with a tone deaf advertisement that many—including Chance the Rapper—are accusing of being racist.

The ad, which featured the tagline, “Sometimes, lighter is better,” came to national attention when Chance tweeted a series of thoughts about the ad Monday. He called it “terribly racist” and raising some interesting points about whether or not its controversial nature was a marketing tool.

The South African branch of the company tweeted out a response Tuesday to the advertisement just days after the Chicago rapper’s tweets.

CNN’s Don Lemon and Anderson Cooper don’t mince words: Trump’s comments were ‘racist’

TwitterFacebook

Nobody should be surprised Donald Trump said something racist. Before election day, he said many undocumented Mexican immigrants were “rapists” and criminals, and his company was sued by the Justice Department for discriminating against black tenants — way back in 1973

And yet, he continues to outdo himself. “Why are we having all these people from shithole countries come here?” he reportedly said on Thursday, referring to people from Haiti, El Salvador and African countries. He then suggested bringing in more immigrants from Norway — you know, white people.
