Remember when 2006 you was mind-blown by the Wii’s motion sensing capabilities? VR is like that jaw drop times 100.

VR’s ability to fling you into the world of the video games you loved anyway is easily one of the coolest things to happen in the tech world recently — and the fact that it’s all possible at home and not just at some NASA lab is seriously amazing.

Here’s your cheap way in: The Acer Windows Mixed Reality Headset is usually one of the really expensive ones, but it’s half off and only $201 at Amazon today. (Best Buy is offering it for the full price of $399.99.)

If you’ve looked into headsets at all, you’ll know that the most loved ones — namely the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive — will have you out $300 to $500 bucks. This Acer deal is such a steal, it seems like some reality bending of its own.  Read more…

If you haven’t yet realized by the 15 grad party invites hanging on your fridge, it’s high school graduation season. Grads everywhere are expecting to be congratulated for making it through four years of waking up at 6 am, just to go to school to learn trigonometry that they will never use again ever.

After a long wait, the Oculus Go VR headset (32 GB) is finally for sale, and you can snag it for $199 on Amazon. 

We know it’s annoying that it’s 2018 and teleportation isn’t a thing yet — but we are not kidding when we say that the Oculus Go is the next best thing.

So, why is the Oculus Go so badass? And why is everyone (including Mashable’s own tech reporter) so enamored with it?

We’re so glad you asked.

For starters, it’s a truly standalone headset. That means no separately purchased junk, no giant gaming desktop required, no pricey video card, and no trying to make sure that your phone stays in the headset (that is, if your phone is even compatible) — all nuisances you’d run into with VR gear like the HTC Vive, the Samsung Gear VR, or the Google Daydream View. PSA: The Google Daydream View is only $50 today and you should really, really get on that. These snazzy headsets usually go for $99.99. 

Remember when the Wii came out in 2006 and all of our young, dumb selves were psyched over the motion sensing controllers that allowed us to going bowling from the comfort of home? Imagine that excitement times 100.

The Google Daydream View is a phone-to-face immersion headset, meaning all you need to do is stick your phone in and bam — you’re in a whole new world.
