Building up a town in Animal Crossing: New Leaf takes time, effort, and patience.

Shortly after the new year arrived, an internet man named Paul Hubans shared the revelation that his 87-year-old grandmother is a proper New Leaf veteran, with 3,580 hours (and counting) invested into one single town over a four-year period. She got her first 3DS is 2014 and just kept on playing.

My 87-year-old grandma has played Animal Crossing New Leaf on her 3DS every single day for the past 4 years now.

Her 3DS finally broke this year, so we got her a new one for Christmas. During a system transfer I checked her activity log: pic.twitter.com/R33KycrW4q

Chrissy Teigen roasted Animal Crossing for teaching us horrible morals, and she’s absolutely right

TwitterFacebook

A new smartphone obsession brought people together this holiday weekend. And no, we’re not talking about the price of bitcoin or the trivia game HQ

Animal Crossing, a video game first released for Nintendo 64 back in 2001, came to smartphones last week. As advertised in Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, players build their own campsites and make friends along the way. Players can add IRL people via personal codes and “befriend” virtual animals.

But that’s where things get problematic, as Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp and OG Animal Crossing player Chrissy Teigen pointed out over the weekend. These virtual animals — or as Teigen calls “animal people things” — will only agree to come over if players complete a handful of tasks, like build them a requested chair or collect five peaches.  Read more…

Tamagotchis are coming to your smartphone

Remember your Tamagotchi that needed constant attention and wouldn’t stop pooping 24/7?

You might have accidentally killed it from neglect, but it’s now coming back to haunt you — on your smartphone.

My Tamagotchi Forever, which is free to play, will be coming to smartphones and tablets in 2018.

Like the original game, you’ve got to take care of your Tamagotchi, feed it, wash it, entertain it, and obviously clean up its poop.

The rest of the game however, looks a bit less Tamagotchi and a bit more Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp. Read more…

TwitterFacebook

We knew it was coming in late November, and now we have a date: 11/22.

Nintendo’s next mobile game, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, will be out on Wednesday. The tweet announcing the news pegs it for release on unspecified “mobile devices,” which probably means a simultaneous Android and iOS launch.

Pocket Camp rethinks Nintendo’s enduring series about building a quiet, rural life in a small village filled with adorable talking animals. While the core ideas remain the same — you customize your living space, travel to other living and social spaces, and gather resources — your home base is a campsite rather than a town. Read more…
