Hope Donald Trump has ice handy, because he just got burned by CNN

TwitterFacebook

Donald Trump can’t stop getting dunked on by news organizations.

On Saturday, Donald Trump took to Twitter for one of his favorite activities: attacking CNN (now in 280 characters!).

.@FoxNews is MUCH more important in the United States than CNN, but outside of the U.S., CNN International is still a major source of (Fake) news, and they represent our Nation to the WORLD very poorly. The outside world does not see the truth from them!

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 25, 2017

In the tweet, the president once again decries CNN as fake news, this time arguing that CNN International “represents our Nation to the world very poorly.” Read more…

‘I’m just not gonna go around saying thank you:’ LaVar Ball’s CNN interview was wild

TwitterFacebook

LaVar Ball’s interview with Chris Cuomo on CNN Monday was a hell of a thing.

The infamous basketball father appeared on CNN to talk about his ongoing feud with President Trump over the release of his son from China — and the discussion began with a contentious exchange and then escalated throughout the segment.

First, the backstory:

LaVar Ball is the father of Los Angeles Lakers point guard Lonzo Ball, whose two younger brothers are also famous for being good at basketball (and for being members of the Ball family). The elder Ball is like a lot of parents you meet at little league games who can’t stop shouting about how good their kid is, except Ball’s kids are actually good and instead of shouting from rusty bleachers, LaVar often shouts from ESPN as a commentator. A very special thank you to Donald Trump for this AT&T/Time Warner fiasco

TwitterFacebook

President Donald Trump has done something that no other president has done before—and many journalists have tried and failed to do.

He turned a boring media merger into the corporate version of a soap opera. He made it interesting.

On Monday, the U.S. Department of Justice announced that it will be filing a lawsuit to block AT&T’s $85 billion acquisition of Time Warner. It’s just the most recent in a bizarre series of developments around what is a massively important move in the media world.

Importance, however, doesn’t mean public interest. Apart from the initial announcement, these kinds of deals tend to be pretty boring. Stories about antitrust, for example, aren’t exactly on most people’s must-read list. But they should be, assuming you like to watch HBO, use a smartphone to do just about anything, see movies, or read the news.  Read more…

The DOJ sues to block AT&T’s Time Warner deal

On Monday, AT&T confirmed the U.S. Department of Justice’s decision to sue in order to block the company’s plans to purchase Time Warner for $85.4 billion. Donald Trump denies he’s using the AT&T-Time Warner merger to get revenge on CNN

TwitterFacebook

President Donald Trump was always against a merger between AT&T and Time Warner, and he’s always hated CNN. So the appearance that he was using his position to force Time Warner to ditch CNN to close the $85 billion deal made a strange, vindictive kind of sense.

Now, however, Trump is denying any attempts to exact revenge on his cable news nemesis.

Trump said he “didn’t make that decision. That was made by a man who is actually a very respected person, a very, very respected person,” Variety reported. Trump made the comments—likely about Justice Department antitrust chief Makan Delrahim—during his trip through Asia.  Read more…

Report: U.S. will only approve AT&T-Time Warner deal if CNN is sold

The U.S. Department of Justice may block Time Warner’s sale to AT&T if it doesn’t sell CNN first, according to a report from the Financial Times. The $85.4 billion deal was proposed last year, just weeks before the U.S. presidential election.
After Donald Trump was elected, some wondered if his disdain for the cable news channel would somehow thwart the deal. The FT is now… Read More
