The big Apple event today revealed more details on Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston’s timely upcoming original show for Apple TV+ — and a preview of Steve Carell’s hilarious role in it.

The Morning Show sounds like a comedy-drama mixture of Anchorman meets Newsroom meets Mad Men.

“We pull back the curtain on the power dynamics between the men and the women of the high stakes world of morning news shows,” said Witherspoon. “It’s a real insider’s view on the lives of the people who help America wake up every day.” Read more…

Netflix’s ‘Dumplin’ delivers drag, Dolly, and the next Peter Kavinsky

Netflix’s Dumplin’ isn’t built on rhinestones and stilettos. Yes, the small town comedic drama comes with plenty of that as-advertised pageant glam, but it finds crucial footing in a simple maxim from the Queen of Country: “Figure out who you are and…

Jennifer Aniston kinda offended Dolly Parton by naming a dog after her

TwitterFacebook

Naming a dog after someone you know can provoke mixed feelings. Is it a sign of great respect? Is it just a little bit weird, perhaps?

Well, all we can tell you is that Dolly Parton didn’t quite know how to feel when Jennifer Aniston told her she’d once named a dog after her.

On Jimmy Kimmel Live, Aniston said that she’d met Parton for the first time seven years ago, and told her then that she’d named her pooch after her.

But, during a press junket for the movie Dumplin’ — featuring music by Parton and starring Aniston — Parton divulged that she had mixed feelings about the tribute.

“Yesterday Dolly and I were doing press and somehow that came up,” Aniston said. “She said: ‘I know when she [Aniston] said ‘I named my dog Dolly after you,’ I didn’t know how I felt about that.’ Read more…

Steve Carell is coming back to TV for the first time since ‘The Office’

TwitterFacebook

Apple’s upcoming TV streaming service has added another television legend to its roster of stars for its inaugural season — and he’s kind of a big deal.

Steve Carell, who has entirely eschewed TV roles since The Office went off the air in 2013, will return to television to team up with Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston for one of the Apple service’s original programs.

As said in The Hollywood Reporter, the yet-untitled show is about working for a Good Morning America–type morning program and is based off of Brian Stelter’s book Top of the Morning: Inside the Cutthroat World of Morning TV.  Read more…

Turns out Ross and Rachel from ‘Friends’ were initially never meant to go on a break

TwitterFacebook

Yes, it’s been 14 years since Friends ended. But we’re still obsessed and we know you are too.

And one of the executive producers and directors of the show, Kevin S. Bright, has just revealed a pretty big piece of information about one of the most beloved couples in TV history.

Ross and Rachel, it turns out, were initially never meant to first break, and then break up, when they did. Their high-school-dream-come-true romance was not supposed to go awry.

“When [Ross and Rachel] was planned it wasn’t planned that way, that came a little bit later,” Bright told Metro. “It allowed us to have fun with the show and give people something to root for.” Read more…

Jennifer Aniston admits she’s secretly lurking on Instagram

TwitterFacebook

Jennifer Aniston is a creeper. Her words, not mine.

InStyle has a delightful new profile of her, and the piece, written by Molly McNearney (Jimmy Kimmel’s wife and co-head writer), tackles a myriad of topics. They touch on the constant tornado of rumors that surround her personal life (no, she’s not heartbroken) and the #TimesUp and #MeToo movements (yes, she’s experienced sexism in the industry).

But one of the most revealing tidbits is her discussion of social media platforms like Instagram — and how despite her negative feelings, she still finds ways to lurk like the rest of us.

Jennifer Aniston will play America’s first gay female president and we’ve never felt so patriotic

TwitterFacebook

Jennifer Aniston will play the U.S. President in Netflix’s upcoming First Ladies, co-starring comedian Tig Notaro as her wife. Notaro and Stephanie Allynne wrote the script.

First Ladies is a political comedy about America’s first female President and her wife, The First Lady,” Netflix wrote in a press release. “When Beverly and Kasey Nicholson move into the White House, they’ll prove that behind every great woman… is another great woman.”

Everything about this sounds too good to be true, and a lovely way to imagine a country ready for both a female and openly gay leader. Read more…

Melissa McCarthy and Jennifer Aniston debate gravity, end up fighting
